Vancouver

Notes

• Nice, clean, green, medium-size city – definitely worth visiting once
• Gets a lot of rain, but weather is mostly moderate, so lots of outdoor activities
• Has good public transportation options – I did not use.
• Richmond (south of Vancouver) has hundreds of Chinese restaurants – must eat
• Stanley park is a nice refuge in the middle of an urban area – think Central park in NY
• The Lions gate Bridge is a huge omnipresent landmark – think Golden Gate Bridge

Must See/Do

• Canada Place – Nice views, Famous sculptures: Olympic Cauldron, The Drop, Digital Orca
• Stanley Park – rent bicycles if you like
• Granville Island
• Gastown – Statue of “Gassy” Jack, Steam powered clock, restaurants
• Day trip to Squamish + Whistler
• Drive up Cypress Mountain for nice views of Lions Gate Bridge and downtown Vancouver

Meh

• Vancouver Lookout – not very tall, views are alright

Don’t Bother

• University of British Columbia Botanical Gardens – not much to see here, skip it
• Science World – It’s for kids
