- You should do one of the tours that gets you ON the glacier – whether you take a Helicopter tour on to the glacier or walk onto the glacier – make sure you get on the glacier. That’s when you get a real feel for the might of the glacier. The helicopter tours have the advantage that they are able to drop you off further up the glacier where the ice is clean and forms sick ice caves due to melting. We did the Ice Explorer – it was the best value for money – helicopter tours on Fox glacier were more expensive. It’s not cheap though, so expect to spend a few hundred dollars per person.
