Doha, Qatar

The Basics

  • Doha is the capital of Qatar. > 90% of Qatar’s 3M population lives in Doha. There are a few things of interest outside of Doha, but you probably want to focus on Doha for the first trip.
  • It gets HOT here, so plan your trip during the cooler months of the year. When you do visit, the key is not to wear less clothes, but to wear loose clothes that cover most of your skin.
  • It’s quite safe.
  • It’s a bit expensive.
  • The metro is good and you should use it.
  • Uber is available and most cars are cheap and clean and efficient.
  • You need at least 2 days, you could spend as many as 5 days (3 days is ideal)

Must See

  • National Museum of Qatar
  • Museum of Islamic Art
  • Souq Waqif
  • Katara Cultural Village
  • Corniche
  • Villaggio Mall (Skip this if you have seen Dubai Malls)
  • Barzan Towers <– Skip, not much to see here
  • The Pearl <– It’s hard to “see” the Pearl. It’s not designed for tourists, there aren’t many pedestrian streets. You might want to go eat at one of the restaurants there and see the Pearl in the process
